That's all fine and dandy.  Except, you must set yourself apart in some fashion from all the rest.   Research shows that to be most effective you should have your own distinct website or a blogging platform to serve as your location where you brand yourself as the "go-to guy", the expert who has the solutions people are looking for in your particular niche.

It does take some time and practice to create that location for yourself on the web, and there are several no cost or low cost sites available where you can test your skill and be creative in a very user friendly point-and-click environment.

I recommend webs.com and weebly.com and you can view my sites to see what I have been able to create with very little tech knowledge.   Blogger, Squidoo and Hub Pages are some of the others free website building and blogging platforms I have used that are also very simple to navigate.  If you have some money available to get started, it smart to purchase a domain name and hosting.

 It is also important to learn about keywords and keyword phrases.  These are the words most people type when searching for something on the internet. For example, if you want to sell humidifiers as an affiliate of Amazon, you will want to research the top product and use the adwords search tool from google to see what are the most common phrases people type into the search window.   Then, choose one that gets searched a lot, but has low competition, and buy a domain name with those words, and title your blog or website with the same words.  This will help your site come up near the top just because it contains the words that are searched often. 

Once you have created a "home base" on the web, you must find a way to drive traffic to your website as well.  With over  5 million websites out there,  how in the world will anyone find you?  The novice thinks you can just put up a site and you'll start making money online.  Not so.

Learning how to attract people to your website is critical. There are several ways to do it for no cost, or low cost  through article marketing, blogging, social websites, like  Facebook and Twitter, MySpace and using others.
